In my opinion: Coalition has brought stability thanks to Lib Dem policies
I have received a leaflet from the Conservative Party in which they claim credit for raising the treshold to £10,000 for taxpayers. This was, of course Lib Dem policy in 2010 when David Cameron said, on television, "We cannot afford huge Tax cuts." Coalition means compromise, a word that does not exist in the Tory dictionary and we know there have been many concessions made by both Parties in the past few years, in this instance it meant that Lib Dems had to agree to the 5p tax cut given to the richest people, why do the Tories have to be so devious and shy away from the truth? During a long life and from personal experience I have learned not to trust them.
Mrs Thatcher's government was a classic example of twofacedness especially in respect to housing and the scrapping of apprenticeships, creating on the one hand a group of greedy, uncaring and profit seeking people who are only concerned with collecting rents and ignoring responsibilities (with a few exceptions) and creating a market which has become unreachable to many. Can someone please tell me what is affordable housing? And what is their answer to the thousands who are homeless. Secondly they created a dearth of skilled workers by scrapping apprenticeships. Deviousness may have worked in the past but surely the time has come for a little more honesty from both politicians and the media who support them, we the public are given too many interpretations of what was said and not enough fact. In previous coalitions the Tories ran roughshod over their partners but since 2010 they have not been able to do that much to their chagrin.
Can someone please tell me why Tories believe they should rule by divine right? and why are they dithering and pandering to all and sundry over Europe to whom a lot of this country are grateful for the finance and help given, which would not have come from our own Government whether it was Conservative or Labour. As for UKIP I fear if ever they gained control the clock would be turned back 150 years with their extremist views. Personally I cannot trust someone who tries to appear as someone they are not, in cloth cap, coat over arm and pint in hand with cigarette in the other 1920s style and grinning like a Cheshire cat.
In 2010 we rid ourselves of see-saw Government, coalition has steadied the ship and I see no reason for it not continuing after the next election.
