No outbreaks of MRSA for 18 months
Staff at a West hospital have recorded no outbreaks of the potentially deadly super-bug MRSA for a year-and-a-half. The last case of infection at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital was on May 8, last year. MRSA can cause serious infections which can be difficult to treat because the bacterium is resistant to many commonly used antibiotics. Clean hands are the most important factor in controlling the bug together with scrupulous care of invasive devices such as drips, drains and catheters and ensuring a clean environment.
