A place of study and work
A FOWEY pupil has been juggling his studies with a part-time job … at the school.
Fowey Community College student Oliver Jowett, from St Austell, has spent the past seven months as a part-time receptionist at the community sports hub.
He's been working before school between 7am and 8.45am and during weekends, with 6am starts five days a week. Now he has been offered an apprenticeship in a level-two fitness instruction at the college's sports hub. He has already attained a grade C in mathematics and English – two of his three required GCSEs to meet the scheme's criteria – and will take up his post in July. Oliver said: "I have always loved doing sport and when the fitness suite in the sports hub became available for Year 10s to use, I discovered a passion for being in a gym environment.
"I have always wanted to work here.
