£150 to pay for turn
A HANDBRAKE turn at a St Austell roundabout junction has led to a fine and penalty points for a 38-year-old motorist.
David Hensby, of Ruddlemoor, St Austell, pleaded guilty by post to driving a Renault Megane without due care and attention on Poltair Road on June 23 and the case against him was dealt with by Bodmin magistrates on Tuesday last week.
Hensby was driving on Poltair Road when he carried out the manoeuvre at the roundabout which resulted in him facing in the opposite direction towards Poltair Crescent. Gravel and dust was thrown into the air and the Megane left skidmarks in the road.
Hensby told police: "It's a stupid mistake."
