£4.1m scheme for affordable homes
The keys to dozens of new affordable homes in North Devon built under a £4.1million scheme have been handed over.
The 38-home scheme at St Joseph's Close, Landkey Road, Barnstaple, includes 27 for rent, two adapted for families with disabilities and the remainder which are all available under shared ownership.
The Sanctuary Housing project also includes a communal play area and green space for local residents, as well as the construction of a new footpath and cycle way that links to The National Cycle Network.
Faye Webber, executive member for housing at North Devon Council, said she was delighted with the development.

"My job really becomes worthwhile when I see people who have been waiting for so long on the housing list finally move into their new homes," she said.
"In this scheme we've managed to house 27 families in affordable rented properties and this move will make their lives so much better."
Mike Santon, Sanctuary's head of development for the South West, said it was good news for the town. "Sanctuary Group is delighted to bring affordable housing to the Barnstaple area," he said.
"St Joseph's Close shows our ongoing commitment to providing housing to those who need it most and also represents the important work we are doing for local communities.
"The construction of a public play area, green space, foot path and cycle path ensures that the wider community of Barnstaple can also benefit from St Joseph's Close."
