"No power" day at Ansford School
NO power day at Ansford School began at 8.30am prompt when all power within the school was ceremonially switched off. Lessons followed a more creative theme than normal and lots of activities took place outdoors. The quad was a buzz of activity with weaving, spinning and lots of other crafts.
Michael Eavis came into school to present the national 'Green Flag Award' which has given the school 'eco status' for their work on reducing their carbon footprint and environmental work. He was present to watch the unfurling of the green flag and to see the school chickens freed into their new home currently in the school quad. They will be looked after by two students in Year 7.

Ansford no power day
Hot water for the essential staff tea and coffee was boiled in the quad over a charcoal burner, baked potatoes and burgers were cooked over a charcoal barbecue. Students will have learned a valuable lesson – that we should not take the power we use for granted, and if nothing else that we should be careful with what we use and reduce our consumption as much as we possibly can in order to best preserve the world's resources.
