Back-row James Tyas joins Cornish Pirates from Bath
Cornish Pirates have signed promising back-row forward James Tyas on dual-registration terms from Bath.
The 21-year-old former Brighton College student has represented Scotland at Under-20 level and also had spells in the Championship last season, featuring for Plymouth Albion in their opening 12 games before being recalled to Bath due to back-row injuries there. Tyas returned to the Championship later in the season with Moseley, eventually making a combined total of 24 appearances at that level.

The Pirates have also revealed that flanker Adam Clayton has been released without making an appearance for the club.
Clayton injured an anterior cruciate ligament at the Kinsale Sevens tournament in Ireland last year, which required a complete reconstruction from which he has not recovered.

Having been offered a contract earlier this year to join the Pirates, Clayton, a former Bath Under-20 captain and Birmingham & Solihull player, saw it as a chance to get his career back on track, so the news is a blow for both the club and player.
Along with wing Jamie-John Kilmartin and fellow back-row forward Joe Buckle, Tyas is the third player from Bath to be dual-registered with the Pirates this season.
The Pirates' chief executive, Rod Coward, said: "We are delighted with our developing relationship with Bath, but the good news that James Tyas is joining the Pirates is tempered by the fact that Adam Clayton's injury has proved to be far worse than we feared.
"We share his disappointment and wish him every success in the future."
