Cornwall-based Miracle Theatre's frighteningly good show Frankenstein! has proved to be a monster hit, so an extra show has been added to the final performances. Originally a Victorian novel, famously a black and white movie starring Boris Karloff and the inspiration for the 70s musical, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Miracle have created their own version of the Frankenstein story as a musical performed by the Ffitch Repertory Players in 1947. The result is a tender story of unrequited love, confused monsters and science gone mad with the visual flair of early cinema and the elegant charm of the post-war British musical. Final performances – all at 7.30pm – are at Grampound Community Hall on Sunday, February 10; Bodmin College, Tuesday February 12; Liskeard Public Hall (a new date) on Saturday, February 16 and Princess Pavilion, Falmouth, on Sunday February 24.

From protests to Puccini on Mark's personal journey

Mark Thomas is a comedian who packs a political punch in his work, tackling epic subjects such as walking the wall in the West Bank, becoming Guinness World Record holder for political protests and chasing arms dealers around the country. But his latest show is on a more intimate and personal scale. Bravo Figaro is the true story of Mark's father, a self-employed builder with a passion for opera, his degenerative illness – progressive supranuclear palsy – and Mark's attempt to stage an opera in his dad's bungalow in Bournemouth. Bravo Figaro is at The Brewhouse Theatre, Taunton on Friday, February 22 and the Octagon Theatre, Yeovil, the following night.
