The countdown to Christmas is on.

With the City of Lights procession and Reindeer parade now finished, the festive season has well and truly started in Truro.

The city centre has plenty to offer this year, with Ice Skate Truro, Cornwall's ONLY open air ice rink, being added to the traditional offering of late night shopping, Christmas markets and street entertainment.

Tuesday, December 11 sees the start of the Victorian Christmas Market on Lemon Quay, this year running until Sunday, December 16.

Neil Scott, BID Manager for Totally Truro, the Business Improvement District, said, "Truro really is pulling out all of the stops this Christmas to give visitors to the city centre a really magical experience.

"It is the ideal place to pick up a huge array of gifts.

"With its unique mix of high street chains and independent retailers I believe Truro has the best there is on offer.

"The traditional Victorian Christmas Market is a great example of the diversity available.

"An integral part of Truro's Christmas programme, it gives shoppers a chance soak up the festive atmosphere and find unique, quality gifts and Cornish crafts from local traders to suit all budgets."

With the majority of Cornwall council car parks in the city only charging £1 to park after 4pm, late night shopping on Wednesday evenings is in full swing.

"Late night shopping is as much about meeting friends and socialising as about grabbing those wish list gifts in time for Christmas. " Adds Neil

"And of course don't forget Ice Skate Truro on Cathedral Green, which completes the Christmas experience perfectly."

To keep up to date with everything that is happening in Truro between now and New Year, the team at Totally Truro have created a special Christmas section to their website which can be found at www.enjoytruro.co.uk/christmastruro.
