It's safer to park in St Austell
THE TEAM behind the running of White River Place's car park has won an award for its steps to reduce crime.
The Trinity Road car park, which was recently taken over by the shopping centre's new owners Ellandi, has received the Park Mark Safer Parking award.
The title is given to car parks that have passed a police and British Parking Association's risk assessment.
It recognised the efforts Ellandi has done to help deter criminals, antisocial behaviour and make shopping in the town safer.

Claire Daniel, White River Place centre manager said: "Being awarded the Park Mark award is brilliant news for White River Place, as it shows the regular security patrols and CCTV coverage and other anti-crime measures we have in place are working and means that shoppers can have peace of mind leaving their cars parked here.
"The award has come at a great time, as the car park has been seeing increased usage thanks to a significant cut in parking charges, so now drivers can park cheaply and safely right in the heart of St Austell."
The scheme was launched by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO/S).
Nationally vehicle crime accounts for 20 per cent of all crimes, with an estimated 22 per cent of vehicle crime occurring in car parks.
