HELSTON Methodist Church drama group has pulled out all the stops to ensure everything is shipshape for its new show.

It's anchors away for Anything Goes which runs until Saturday at the Epworth Hall.

Sailing on the SS American are a gangster on the run posing as a minister, a nightclub singer and her four dancing 'Angels', a society Miss who is engaged to an English gentleman (also on the ship) along with her former boyfriend who stows away on the boat to try to win her back.

A series of comical mistaken identities ensues as the passengers and crew sing and dance their way across the Atlantic to evergreen Cole Porter tunes including I Get A Kick Out Of You, You're The Top and It's De-lovely, among others.

Anything Goes is one of the most enduringly popular musicals in the American repertory, having first been performed on Broadway in 1934.

Helston's production stars Alice Massey as Reno Sweeney, James Hayes as Billy Crocker and Jim Downie as Moonface Martin.

Steph Rosewarne plays Hope Harcourt, the love of Billy Crocker who is engaged to Lord Evelyn Oakleigh, played by Gary Hosler, who was seen last year as Gerald in Me And My Girl and Chris Malton plays Billy Crocker's boss Elisha Whitney, Elaine Downie is Mrs Harcourt and Bethany Lyne is Moonface's sidekick Erma.
