Top secondary teacher training accolade
Devon Secondary Teacher Training Group has been rated the top secondary teacher training provider nationally in terms of the 'quality' of its provision (based on inspectors' and newly-qualified teachers' ratings) in the 'Good Teacher Training Guide 2012', as published by the Centre for Education and Employment Research, University of Buckingham.
This one-year teacher training course provides school-centred initial teacher training, for graduates seeking a PGCE qualification in Drama, Music, Modern Foreign Languages (French, Spanish and German), and from September 2013, in Mathematics, Science: Chemistry and Science: Physics.
Many former trainees are now teachers in local schools. One former trainee in her first year of teaching says: "The school praised DSTTG for its training and preparation for the interviews and posts and, said they saw a 'spark' in me that they sometimes did not see in other interviewees."
DSTTG are looking forward to expanding into new subject areas and training more graduates from September 2013.
