All set for St Ives Harbour Swim
ST IVES’ swimmers are limbering up for the open water swimming event of the year.
The St Ives Harbour Association Town Cup Swimming Gala may be a mouthful but it’s one of the most keenly anticipated events on the town calendar.
This year the event takes place on Saturday September 7 with races starting as usual from the Lifeboat Slip.
Application forms are available from St Ives Swimming Pool, St Ives Life Surfing Club, the Harbour Masters Office and The Guildhall.

Races commence at 4pm with classes for both males and females for ages 8-9 years, 10-11 years, 12-13 years and 14-15 years.
The main event will be the Swim for the 16 –39 year old males for the St Ives Town Cup, with a similar cup also awarded to the winner of the female race.
There will also be classes for over the 40s.
A perpetual trophy will be awarded to the winner of each race and medals to 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Entry is only open to people living in the TR26 area.
The Sgt Paul Fox Cup for endeavour will again be awarded during the event in memory of the popular St Ives man killed in Afghanistan.
Entries stay open until half an hour before racing starts but to get a competitors’ T-Shirt entries must be received before August 31.
