Time to face the music
IT’ WILL be time to face the music in St Austell on Saturday for the first 40 lucky popstar wannabes who have made it through to the live auditions of our Xmas Factor competition.
The singers – aged from seven to 52 – will take to the stage and sing in front of four judges and the crowds in Aylmer Square.

The Xmas Factor judges
We’ve got potential singing sensations travelling from throughout Cornwall, including Penzance, Launceston, Truro, Looe, Redruth, Helston and beyond.
They’ll be singing karaoke favourites such as I Will Survive, classics like Fly Me to the Moon and modern hits including Valerie, to vie for a place in the coveted grand final on December 19.
Matthew Allen, from AMG Records, said: “The competition is hotting up. We’ve had $of entries and we’re really excited about hearing everyone sing live on Saturday.”
The Cornish Guardian has teamed up with Pirate FM to find Cornwall’s future singing star in time for Christmas.
As well as cash prizes, the winner will have the chance to break into the music industry with a recording session in a professional studio thanks to AMG Records.
Cash
There will be £500 cash for the over-16s’ winner, £250 for the under-16s’ winner and a shopping spree in St Austell.
Judges will be the Cornish Guardian’s Zoe Bourdeaux, James Martin from Pirate FM, Paul Scott, chairman of St Austell Chamber of Commerce, and Nathan Jones-Carr, aka J-carr, one half of popular rap-rave act MK1, who has performed with $such as Chipmunk, Ironik and N-dubz.
Zoe said: “The wait is finally over – come along to St Austell town centre on Saturday between 10am and 2pm to support your favourite act.”
Entertaining the crowds throughout the day will be girl band Eden with their new charity single.
Slots are already filling up for next week’s live auditions – so if you think you could be the next Leona Lewis or Will Young, you’ve got until 5pm next Tuesday, December 8, to enter.
All you need to do is fill in and return the entry form below or e-mail xmasfactor@amgrecords.co.uk
Thanks to St Austell Trophies, Speedy Hire, Zada Clothing, The Hair Workshop, Argos and White River Cinema for their support.
