Paul triumph at St Gluvias
Wednesday, August 20, 2008, 08:54
In their pool matches Paul beat teams from St Gluvias and Gorran, before meeting St Just in the second round, who had finished runners-up in their pool.
Paul then beat Redruth in the quarter-finals before a thrilling semi-final victory over Truro A, when Paul made 117 for three, only for Truro to make 117 for two, but as Paul had recorded a superior run rate throughout the competition, it was they who progressed through to the final.
Winning the toss and electing to field first in the final against Falmouth A, Callum Donnelly took two for 10, with the other bowlers all chipping in with wickets as Falmouth made 84 for eight.
Donnelly also starred with the bat in a man of the match performance, hitting 20 as Paul made 143 without loss to record an emphatic victory.
Team coach Andrew Snell said: "We had a mixture of 11-year-olds and younger lads who all performed superbly. I'd like to thank them and their parents for their excellent behaviour throughout the day."
