Youngsters with Stars in their eyes

Wednesday, July 30, 2008, 14:49

ALL this week budding young footballers have been honing their skills at Helston School under the guidance of coaches from the Cornish Soccer Stars academy.

The holiday soccer schools are designed to help children of all abilities improve both their footballing and personal skills, as well as helping improve confidence, teamwork, friendship and socialising in a fun atmosphere

Each day this week, from 10am to 3pm, youngsters were learning passing, shooting, tackling, goalkeeping, possession and dribbling skills. After lunch a series of five-a-side matches were played, at the end of which one youngster was presented with a player of the day award. And every player who attends all five days of the Cornish Soccer Stars course receives a course completion certificate.

The Summer School, which is run by FA-qualified coaches Marcus Smith and Mark Read, is open to players aged from five to 16 and costs £10 per day or £40 for the full week.

The Cornish Soccer Stars Summer School returns to Helston School for the week of August 18-22, but in the meantime further sessions will be held at Trevithick School in Camborne on August 4-8 and at Illogan FC on August 11-15.
