Top surf beach to get half-term safety patrols
A Cornish beach will have autumn safety patrols for the first time next month, thanks to a deal between the RNLI and Surf Lifesaving Great Britain (SLSGB).
Volunteers will work at Summerleaze beach in Bude every weekend and throughout the half-term break until November 4.
Three lifeguards will be on duty, including volunteers from the RNLI and Bude Surf Lifesaving Club.
Phil Hill, RNLI lifeguard manager for the area, said it was good news for the resort.

"It'll be a good asset for the town to have lifeguard cover during what can be a busy month.
"We're delighted to be able to provide lifeguard cover on Summerleaze beach during October and the half-term week.
"Widemouth beach already has extended season cover and it was such a success last year we were very keen to try and expand on it."
Adrian Parsons at Bude Surf Lifesaving Club said the group was delighted to be working with the RNLI to improve safety on the popular beach.
"This kind of co-operation will be beneficial to all beach users and shows the value of the RNLI and SLSGB working together," he said.
