It could be the tallest tree in Cornwall
A 45FT Christmas tree has been winched into place in the main square at Camborne.
It was put in position on Sunday morning but within hours youngsters were caught trying to climb it.
Glynis Charlesworth, vice-chairman of Camborne Chamber of Commerce, said: "We hope they haven't damaged any of the branches as it's a fabulous tee and may be the tallest in Cornwall."
The tree, from the Tregothnan Estate, near Truro, was transported on a low loader by Michael Mudge's transport firm.
It is being sponsored by Williams Travel and by Rob Buckham on behalf of his new grandson, Charlie.
Many of the town's light displays are already in place and the lights for the tree are due to go up this week.
They will then be switched on but will be turned off again on December 13.
The following evening is the town's annual lantern parade, involving as many as 1,000 local children, when the lights will be formally switched on by Aaron Thomas, from Troon school, winner of this year's Sid Godolphin youth award.
