A taste of ancient and new, in pub's 'cybeer' link-up
A celebration of Cornish beers – some brewed specially for the occasion – will be taking place in St Agnes this week.
The idea of Driftwood Spars landlady Louise Treseder, the event aims to be unlike any other beer festival by combining the ancient art of brewing with the latest digital technology.
"We are lucky enough to have superfast broadband at the Driftwood Spars," said Louise. "In the past we have held wine-tasting sessions, with live video link-ups to winemakers in other countries. So this year we have decided to have a similar set-up for our beer festival.
"We will be linking live to the Sierra Nevada brewery in California over the weekend for a 'cybeer' tasting session."

The owner of Belgium's Orval Brewery will be joining drinkers at the pub for a 'talk and taste' session, while Roger Protz, editor of the CAMRA Good Beer Guide, will also be sharing his expertise and anecdotes during the event.
"The Driftwood Spars is at the forefront of the great Cornish beer revival," said Roger. "As well as producing delicious prize-winning beers itself, it features beers from established Cornish brewers such as St Austell, Sharps and Skinners, and ales from the new legion of small producers in Cornwall.
"The pub is in an inspirational location for a beer festival and I'm looking forward with keen anticipation to sampling some great beers and some fine pasties."
The Celebration of Beer festival is at the Driftwood Spars in St Agnes from Friday, March 15, to Sunday March 17. For more details, visit www.driftwoodspars.com.
