A BAND of keen Blisland youngsters are hoping to start a project to brighten up the village. A group of teenagers approached the parish council to see if they could help to refurbish the village's bus shelter.

The concrete structure, which is in the heart of the village, is a little run down and the plan is to repaint it.

Chairman of Blisland Parish Council Arthur Ludgate contacted PC Neil Crook and PCSO Lloyd Paynter to see if they could help.

PCSO Paynter said: "We are delighted to help with the project especially after hearing how keen the local youngsters are to help. The shelter is a bit run down so it would be a satisfying project to see it refurbished.

"Blisland has a very low crime rate and it is wonderful that the community is so keen to improve the village."

PCSO Paynter approached Bodmin Homebase store manager Jon Barber who agreed to donate paint, brushes and rollers to the project.

PCSO Paynter said: "A huge thank you to Homebase. Not only has Mr Barber agreed to help us with the Blisland project, he also kindly agreed to pay for half the cost of the replacement of the Bodmin police football project shelter which was blown down and destroyed in the high winds."

The Blisland bus shelter renovation project is being organised for sometime after Easter. If anyone would like to offer help contact PCSO Paynter at Bodmin police station on 08452 777444 or via e-mail lloyd.paynter@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk
