Nothing was too much trouble for clerk Elinor
AFTER quarter of a century Mabe Parish Council's clerk has stepped down.
Councillors said a fond farewell to Elinor O'Connor, 70, at their last meeting.

They presented her with a granite clock – made with granite from one of the village quarries.
Chairman Roger Phillips said she would be "sadly missed".

He said: "Nothing was ever too much trouble or 'not my job', from projects like publishing the parish plan to millennium and jubilee celebrations.
"I am sorry that Elinor will no longer be available to remind me of decisions taken many years ago, to point out where I am on an agenda and when items need organising."
Although she has not lived in the village for the past 16 years, she stills attends the church and keep-fit club and is involved in the annual Shindig and other fundraising events.
She became clerk after former councillor Keith Bryant asked her to take on the role, which she did alongside her full-time council job.
"I thought it would be interesting," she said. "I thought I would give it a try and I really enjoyed it.
"There wasn't so much work in those days. Now there are so many rules and regulations and so much paperwork."
Fiona Collins has taken over the role.
