Crisp lorry becomes wedged in St Agnes

Thursday, November 20, 2008, 09:00

A huge articulated lorry blocked the road through St Agnes on Monday when it became stuck in the narrow shopping area.

Carrying a load of crisps, the lorry had driven into the village through Vicarage Road when it encountered the narrow bend at Churchtown.

Jean Passfield, who was in the village centre at the time and took this photograph, said: 'People had waved at the driver to warn him not to go further down the road, but he didn't seem to notice,' said Mrs Passfield.

The lorry eventually ended up on a bend with just inches to spare either side.

Local people helped the driver manoeuvre his way around the bend, and the lorry eventually passed through without causing any damage.

'It was a miracle it got through without damage. It is the third time we have had a lorry stuck in the middle of St Agnes in just over a month.'
